Women’s Fit Camp FAQ

FIRST WORKOUT / “FOCUS GROUP” on Earth Day, April 22nd, 9am-9:55am @ Sky Park!  Workout + refreshments after, details below.

What inspired Women’s Fit Camp?  My family and I settled in Scotts Valley a few months ago, and I’ve had a longtime heart’s desire to invest some energy for the greater good.  I’ve been a fitness and wellness professional for 12+ years, and my full time work is managing a large tech company fitness center in Silicon Valley.  I want to “give back” to our wonderful community by providing a space to sweat, laugh, learn and bond.  My specialty is women’s fitness and wellness.   This includes women at every age and stage of life, especially pre-and-post natal mamas who have specialized needs–weeks, months and even years afterward.

Who can attend?  All residents of Santa Cruz County are welcome!  Sessions are at Scotts Valley Sky Park.  The class includes cardio, strength, mobility and stretching/relaxation.  It accommodates all levels of fitness and will be a medium-to-high intensity workout depending on how you decide to approach it.  If you’re a postpartum mom or otherwise have any potential exercise limitations, I recommend getting the all-clear from your physician prior to participation.

Is there a fee? Saturday participation is free!  If you’d like to contribute, a donation of around $5 or $10 per person is suggested to assist with the cost of equipment, refreshments, etc.  501c3 registration is in progress and you will receive a record of 2017 donations for tax purposes.  If contributing cash before or after the workout, use a donation envelope with your name and address.

How do I register? Reserve a free ticket on Event Brite here.

How do I contribute?  You may donate via PayPal here or use the Event Brite page linked above.

What should I wear or bring?  Comfortable workout clothes, closed-toed athletic shoes and sunglasses are recommended.  Bring a water bottle for hydration.  You may also want to bring extra cash to visit the nearby Farmer’s Market after class.  Any equipment will be provided by me.

What should I do/go where when I arrive?  Aim to get there 5-10 minutes before 9am for a quick sign-in at the gazebo next to the Rec Center.  Warm up starts by 9:05 and we wrap at 9:55 🙂

Can I bring little ones?  The workout itself is not set up to accommodate our babies (check out Fit4mom Santa Cruz for that goodness) BUT I highly suggest bringing the kids with another family member to supervise them at the playground, or take them on a stroller walk or bike ride around the adjacent park loop, or visit the skate park or dog park right next door while mama gets a workout.  It’s possible that every so often, we can bring other family members into the workout itself, but this is foremost about creating space for us to dedicate time as women to care for ourselves and have fun.
